Aftermath

Tatsu bolted up, a cold sweat beading on his face. Kevin mumbled something sleepily and slipped an arm around his waist. Tatsu reached over and brushed a bit of messy blond hair out of his lover’s face. Kevin was safe and whole, which was a relief.

Stupid nightmare. Tatsu raked his hand through his hair in frustration and slipped out of bed. When the hell was this going to be over? They had dealt with Kage weeks ago but Tatsu was still having nightmares and looking over his shoulder like the bakeneko was still after him. Tatsu sighed and headed into the living room. No sense in waking Kevin just because he couldn’t sleep.

Tatsu flopped on the couch with a sigh and grabbed the remote for the TV. Of course, it was nearly three in the morning and there was nothing on except infomercials and bad talk shows. Maybe he should put a movie on or one of the random TV shows that Kevin collected. Between the two of them there was no shortage of stuff to watch.

“Tatsu?” Kevin stepped into the living room with a yawn and a stretch. “What’s wrong babe, can’t you sleep?”

“Sorry, Kev… I was trying not to wake you.” Tatsu scooted over so Kevin could sit down.

“It’s okay. I just got kind of worried when I rolled over and you weren’t there.” Kevin sat down and wrapped an arm around Tatsu’s shoulders. “Did you have another nightmare?”

“Yeah.” Tatsu leaned against Kevin’s chest. Oh, he was so warm. “It’s not so bad, though. Who needs sleep, right?”

“Well, I know a couple of things that might help.” Kevin kissed Tatsu on the cheek. “I could get you a glass of warm milk and we could snuggle until you doze off or…”

“Or?” Tatsu gave Kevin a curious look.

“We could make like bunnies until you’re too exhausted to do anything else.” Kevin grinned and slid his free hand over Tatsu’s stomach. He tugged teasingly at the waistband of Tatsu’s boxers. “I hear sex is an excellent cure for insomnia.”

“You just want to get into my pants again.” Tatsu gave Kevin’s hair a playful tug. Somehow Kevin could always make him smile even in the worst of times and that alone made Tatsu feel better.

“That too.”

“Kevin, I--”

“Hey, I love you remember.” Kevin gave Tatsu a quick kiss on the lips. “And if I can’t keep the nightmares away, at least I can distract you for a while, right?”

“True enough.” Tatsu stood and tugged Kevin to his feet. He would work things out especially with Kevin’s help. “Come on, lets go back to bed.”
